19 April 2022, via Zoom – The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UNFAO) jointly organized a project inception workshop on Child and Youth Labour in Agriculture. The event was joined by 32 representatives from the local government units (LGUs) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Infanta, Real, and Panukulan in Quezon province, the Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA), the Institute of Social Order (ISO), and the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The objectives of the workshop are: 1) present key findings and recommendations of the country study on “Child Labour in Fisheries and Aquaculture Value Chains in Asia and its linkages to migration”; 2) generate/enhance knowledge on child labor, decent work, youth employment, and good practices; 3) Develop an understanding of the project’s objectives, targets and activities, and project management and roles of stakeholders; and 4) identify strategies and approaches responsive to implement fieldwork in the project sites including risk mitigation measures. The project focuses on the three municipalities in the Philippines, namely: Panukulan, Real, and Infanta in Quezon province.
