Rome, Italy – AsiaDHRRA, represented by Marlene Ramirez, Secretary General, and AFA–representing the CSO AdHoc Steering Committee for FAO Engagement (AHC)–and the members of the International Planning Committee for Food Sovereignty (IPC) joined the global assessment of the FAO Regional CSO Consultations. The meeting was held last June 7-8, 2016 at the FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy. Marlene Ramirez, shared the results of the CSO Consultation in conjunction with 33rd FAO Asia-Pacific Regional Conferences (APRC) held last March 5-6, 2016 in Malaysia. The sharing of experiences from Africa, MENA region, Latin America and Europe generated valuable lessons for both CSO leaders and FAO Partnership Officers at HQ and regional offices.
According Ms. Ramirez, this evaluation meeting with FAO Partnership Officers is key towards improving future Regional CSO Consultations and more importantly the work during intersessional period, where recommendations should be translated into concrete actions. She commended the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific for its support to CSOs in this process.
