The Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA) celebrated its 40th anniversary by organizing a Tree Planting activity with the Center for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development – Pilipinas (CARRD), Tuy Natural Farming Association, supported by the Tuy Municipal Police and AsiaDHRRA.  The significant event was held at Sitio Maligtong, Barangay San Jose, Tuy, Batangas, on 13 July 2024. It was also attended by municipal and barangay leaders of the said locality.

PhilDHRRA celebrated four decades of dedicated service to its rural community members and continues to stay committed to preserving and conserving the environment and contributing to its sustainable development. The day’s participating volunteers planted fruit and non-fruit-bearing trees, namely grafted lansones/rambutans, budded calamansi, dao and molave trees seedlings in the planting sites.

The planting activity aimed to increase the forest cover, enhance biodiversity, and improve soil stability and water retention in the planted areas in Sitio Maligtong, which includes the potential long-term benefits of fruit-bearing trees in the local community. Furthermore, PhilDHRRA and CARRD collaborate in post-planting care and monitoring of the trees, including watering and fertilization schedules, quarterly health checks, and replacement of failed seedlings.
