Online via Zoom – LaoDHRRA representative (and SAEDA Executive Director) Mr. Thongdam Phingphichith presented during the plenary session on Monitoring and Accountability at the national level – VNR and Shadow Report for Laos, in the Asia Pacific Peoples’ Forum 2021 “Beyond Agenda 2030: Asia and the Pacific for Transformative and genuine Change”, held on 18 March 2021 via Zoom.
The session discusses the progress of VNR processes in the countries reporting at the HLPF 2021 this year. Guiding questions for the speakers for this session as follows: (1) What are the progress and the major challenges?, (2) What are the structure of country implementation and CSOs engagement? (3) What are the barriers for civil societies and grassroots participation?
Mr. Phingphichith highlighted the strong contribution of capacity-building initiatives they have engaged with in the past years, which enabled them to effectively link with various government agencies, CSOs, and intergovernmental bodies to push forward SDG action in the country.
