Knowledge Network Meets in China

TaiwanDHRRA Chairperson Dr. Wen-Chi Huang represented AsiaDHRRA in a Knowledge Network Meeting organized by the Agribusiness Accountability Initiative (AAI) last August 10-12 in Beijing, China. This meeting was held around the Asian Rural Sociological Association (ARSA) Congress conducted last August 8-10.
The Agribusiness Accountability Initiative (AAI) is a global platform for sharing research and analysis on the political influence and economic power of the agri-food industry.
The Knowledge Network forum brought together a select group of Asian academics, researchers and other analysts who share critical perspectives on corporate control of food production and distribution systems.
The meeting had several goals:

  1. sharing data that researchers have been collecting about changes in the agri-food system in the Asia/Pacific region, especially the growing power of agribusiness firms;
  2. pull together from the research presented the current structure of the region’s agri-food system; and
  3. identify gaps in knowledge in order to map out future research agenda.
