13 September 2021 via Zoom – Representatives from FAO RAP and HQ, AsiaDHRRA RAI Team, and DHRRA RAI coordinators opened the week with the new LoA kick-off meeting.
This new cooperation builds upon the results of the Responsible Agricultural Investment initiative of FAO and AsiaDHRRA. Specifically, the new LoA will contribute to the implementation of FAO’s strategic framework and its cross-cutting themes on Gender Equality and rural women’s empowerment, Inclusive rural transformation, and scaling-up investment; Green innovation and Small-scale producers’ equitable access to resources.
It will also contribute to regional priorities of ASEAN Member States (AMS) by supporting the implementation of the ASEAN Guidelines on Promoting Responsible Investment in Food, Agriculture and Forestry (ASEAN-RAI): Guideline 3 on women and youth; and the ASEAN Framework Action Plan on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication 2021-2025: Human pillar and Inclusivity pillar.
For AsiaDHRRA, together with its partner DHRRAs and RPOs, RAI is of strategic importance to strengthen capacities of youth and women to influence, participate, and benefit from agri investments, ensure investments following RAI principles , and create opportunities to concretely engage government and private sector in pilot countries.
