The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA) organized a series of Digital Village Ecosystem (DVEA) analyses in four select countries, namely, the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, on 28 September and on 3, 4, and 10 October 2022, respectively, via Zoom. The event was joined by members and partners DHRRAs, government officials, subject matter experts from the academe, regional consultants, and civil society organizations in the region.
The project is under the “Rural transformation and Digital Village Development in select ASEAN countries,” which aims to provide inputs on the key qualitative and quantitative findings from the multi-stakeholder interviews at the village/local area level, including the gender-specific key areas covering:
- Digital infrastructure in the village
- Access and use of mobile phones and ICT tools
- Digital supporting services: public and private
- Digital services demanded by villagers
- Digital service development in the village
- Women agency and digital inclusion opportunities
- Digital village development status
- Digital village ecosystem – development scenarios
From this assessment, the initiative aims to achieve (a) a Rural development strategy – a policy analysis on enabling rural digitalization development using a territorial development approach; and (b) a Digital village action plan – focusing on the needs of select farmer organizations. The project is in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
