Yogyakarta, Indonesia — AsiaDHRRA will be formally launching its new program, entitled, Regional Cooperation to Empower Rural Development Organizations in Asia or ReCoERDO-Asia on 18 May 2016 in Sheraton Resort, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
AsiaDHRRA has recently signed a five-year Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) with the European Commission (EC). The FPA aims to:
- Develop the capacities of Rural Peoples Organizations (RPOs) and Rural Development non-governmental organizations (NGOs) through the empowerment and unleashing of human resource potentials of local people; and,
- Promote a stronger participation in policy-making processes through effective lobby and engagement with policy makers and the donor community at national, regional, and global levels.
The said FPA will be operationalised through the implementation of ReCoERDO-Asia.
ReCoERDO-Asia is a regional program that aims to contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic well-being of members of rural people’s organization in Southeast Asia through strengthened capacity of CSOs in responding to rural development issues.
The program will be implemented in eight countries: Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and, Thailand together with the national DHRRAs and other partners of AsiaDHRRA.
