AsiaDHRRA provides assistance in RNIP Training

AsiaDHRRA was tapped by the Regional Network for Indigenous Peoples (RNIP) to organize and coordinate a week-long training in Pontianak, Kalimantan, Indonesia aimed at preparing community development facilitators and IP leaders to link community needs with available local resources and opportunities from NGOs, government institutions and other agencies. The workshop sessions focused on Community Organizing, Resource Mobilization, Project Management and Micro-finance and Cooperatives, Agro-forestry and community-based forest management. The training was attended by 40 participants from five countries, mostly from IP groups in Indonesia. AsiaDHRRA partners from Vietnam and Indonesia joined the activity.
RNIP is a loose network of various groups working for biodiversity and sustainable development of Indigenous Peoples in South East Asia. The training is a response to the expressed need of RNIP partners based on the training needs assessment survey made last May 2005.
