participated in the upcoming WRD08 Roundtable held in Toronto, Canada on 25-26 January 2007
The Civil Society Consultation drafted specific recommendations to the World Bank about key issues and positions that should be included in the WDR2008. It is supported by the World Bank, and was attended by leading members of the WDR2008 team. This consultation was carried out with a group of approximately 30 leading social movements, social organizations and NGOs, from Latin America, Asia and Africa.
The participants (a) discussed the initial draft overview of the WDR2008; (b) identified issues that are either missing or are being inadequately or incorrectly covered, from the point of view of civil society; (c) issued specific recommendations to the WB to improve the WDR2008.
World Bank is preparing its 2008 World Development Report (WDR2008), which will be dedicated to the topic of “Agriculture for Development” (www.worldbank.org/wdr2008 ).
