AsiaDHRRA is set to participate in the upcoming ASEAN Peoples’ Forum and ASEAN Civil Society Conference 4to be held in Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand on February 20-22, 2009.
During the said event, AsiaDHRRA and AFA will jointly organize a Workshop on Ensuring Food Security for the ASEAN Community on February 21, 2009, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in Building 1 Room 101 (B1.101)  (Download the workshop program here)

The workshop will  discuss policy and program proposals which are relevant, sound and effective in ensuring food security in the region. These concrete policy and program proposals are fruits of several recently held conferences, dialogues and in-country consultations about the food crisis and ensuring food security. The workshop will focus on three important aspects of food security- production, agricultural trade and good governance thru social accountability.

We are very proud to highlight that ThaiDHRRA and AFA member – Farmer’s Federations Association for Development Thailand (SorKorPor) are among the organizers of this important regional activity.
The ASEAN Peoples’ Forum seeks establish a unique forum allowing a two-way process – in which domestic issues are escalated to higher regional forums and the local impacts of regional issues are highlighted for community level groups. The ASEAN Peoples’ Forum encourages regional civil society to engage on critical ASEAN issues both among itself and with ASEAN institutions.
