AsiaDHRRA Co-organizes a Learning Session in the 51ST ADB Governor's Meeting in PH

Manila, Philippines (May 3-5, 2018) — AsiaDHRRA co-organized the learning session on “The Role of Agricultural Cooperatives in Helping Reduce Poverty in Asia and the Pacific”,  in the 51st Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors held in Manila, Philippines  from 3 to 5 May 2018.
The discussion of the meeting centered on Strategy 2030, which envisions to renew stakeholders’ commitment to eradicate extreme poverty in the region and expand vision to achieve a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific.
In the event, AsiaDHRRA together with AFA and Agriterra co-organized a learning session on “The Role of Agricultural Cooperatives in Helping Reduce Poverty in Asia and the Pacific” with AsiaDHRRA’s  ExeCom Board Member, Dr. Wen-Chi Huang, as one of the speakers and Secretary General, Marlene Ramirez, as moderator.
More so, during the Civil Society Organization Consultation Workshop on ADB’s strategy 2030, AsiaDHRRA Sec. Gen. and ANSA-EAPs Board Member, Marlene Ramirez, was one of the panelists tackling keys in achieving 2030 goal, emphasized on: recognizing the role of farmers’ organizations and agri-cooperative; encouraging the support in ecosystem-based approaches and territorial rural development; mobilizing local resources and strengthening local institutions, both public and private sector, for multi-stakeholder action; and highlighting climate action for agriculture and investment in building capacities of local associations, including farmers’ organizations and cooperatives.
