The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA), through its partner member/partner CamboDHRRA, co-organized a side event on “Agricultural Digitalization: Implications on Economic Justice, Digital Justice & Food Sovereignty in Southeast Asia.” The workshop was coordinated with the ETCgroup and Climate Watch Thailand during the ASEAN Civil Society Conference / ASEAN Peoples’ Forum 2022 that was held on 04 November 2022 hybrid via Zoom and in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Mr. Him Nouen, CamboDHRRA’s Secretary-General, presented the background and updates on Rural Transformation and Village Development in Cambodia. He highlighted the key issues and interventions of Agricultural Digitalization in Cambodia in the context of agriculture production and trade and its advantage in value chains.
The workshop aimed to:
- Share information and analysis on current developments and trends in agricultural digitalization in Southeast Asia.
- Unpack the ASEAN Guidelines on Promoting the Utilization of Digital Technologies for ASEAN Food and Agricultural Section.
- Explore the role of digitalization in advancing neo-liberal agenda such as “net zero” and “nature-based solutions” in climate and biodiversity.
Galvanize southeast Asian people’s actions to advance economic and climate justice and defend food sovereignty in the face of ongoing deployment of programs to transform food chains through digitalization in food and agriculture.
