AsiaDHRRA and the Phuc Thanh Beekeeping Cooperative (PTBC) organized a meeting to discuss the cooperative’s general direction and primary concerns. Mr. Cezar Belangel, AsiaDHRRA’s Program Manager, was met by Dr. Buiquang Toan and the VietDHRRA volunteer staff, Ms. Ly Khanh and Ms. Ngoc Ho, on 24 February 2023 at Phuc Thanh, a Thai Nguyen Province located in the Northeast of Vietnam. PTBC is a registered cooperative with 35 honeybee producers and maintains a small processing machine to purify and increase the quality of honey. The cooperative produced around 40 tons of honey in 2022, and 30% is top-grade honey from the longan orchards.

The dialogue surrounds the cooperative’s priority outputs which involve acquiring a “One Commune, One Product” certification and establishing a business structure for collective marketing with the inclusion of staff capacity development. In addition, it aims to produce a systematic financial reporting of its operations, improve the packaging and branding of its products, and conduct a learning exchange.
