The ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN People’s Forum 2013 (ACSC/APF 2013) will be held in Brunei Darussalam on 6 – 8 April 2013. The theme of this year’s gathering is “ASEAN: Building Our Future Together”.
The event will be hosted and led by the Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (CWBD) (or Majlis Wanita Negara Brunei Darussalam) and supported by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Brunei Darussalam.
ACSC/APF 2013 aims to strengthen solidarity and unity of voices, concerns, needs and recommendations of civil society and people in ASEAN towards the realization of an ASEAN Community.
The ACSC/APF 2013 will have plenaries, concurrent / parallel workshops, cultural and multi-media events, a solidarity night and spaces for independent interactions and caucuses. There will be one plenary on Brunei Darussalam, to increase civil society understanding of Brunei Darussalam: Abode of Peace as a Malay, Islamic Monarchial Nation and Brunei Darussalam as a society where communities and groups interact on issues similarly faced by communities and groups elsewhere in ASEAN. The plenary seeks to increase dialogue and interaction between civil society groups and social movements in Brunei Darussalam and the rest of ASEAN.
