Ms. Marlene Ramirez, AsiaDHRRA’s Secretary-General, moderated a session on Learning from Regional Initiatives in support of Agroecology (AE) and delivered the presentation’s main lessons learned and takeaway messages on 25 October 2023 at Siem Reap, Cambodia. The session was participated by the ASEAN Climate Resilient Network, The One Million Voices initiatives of AE & the Youth agenda for AE by AFA and PAKISAMA, the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (CSAM), and Agroecology and Safe Food Systems Transition project (ASSET) and ALiSEA. She highlighted the possibility of concerted action around technologies and innovations, policies, human capacity development, sustainable financing, and effective coordination mechanisms are for the taking.
The sharing also brought to the fore the importance of adapting with the times, the centrality of farmer-led actions in pursuit of agroecology hand-in-hand with other stakeholders as co-creators of solutions, the need to transform even our organizations to pave the way for meaningful participation and sustainability, and the value of multi-stakeholder partnerships in advancing AE in ASEAN.
