Vientiane, Lao PDR – LaoDHRRA conducted a National Consultation-Workshop with representatives from the government, rural development organizations and people’s organizations. The workshop, held on May 2, 2017, aimed to present and validate LaoDHRRA’s policy study, define action points and areas for cooperation between and among the government and civil society to contribute in localizing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ASEAN Vision 2025 Vision.
Ms. Mags Catindig, AsiaDHRRA Program Officer, presented the regional policy paper on Localizing SDGs and ASEAN Vision: Understanding the Role of Rural Development Organizations and People’s Organization. LaoDHRRA presented the initial results of its national study on the same topic. Other present organizations also shared their efforts on rural development and poverty eradication. Representatives from the National Leading Committee for Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (NLCRDPE) and Department of Agriculture and Extension Cooperative (DAEC) provided the participants with the government’s initiatives and priorities on agriculture and rural development.
The workshop was organized as part of the implementation of Regional Cooperation to Empower Rural Development Organizations in Asia (ReCoERDO-Asia) in Laos. LaoDHRRA is hosted by Sustainable Agriculture and Environment Development Association (SAEDA).
