Grand Hyatt, Singapore (July 18, 2018) – AsiaDHRRA Secretary General Marlene Ramirez joined the open session of the 15th SOMRDPE Meeting on 17th July 2018 to share the progress of the AsiaDHRRA-SOMRDPE Partnership cooperation towards the implementation of the Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (RDPE) Framework Action Plan 2016-2020. She put forward the priority activities of AsiaDHRRA for 2018-2019 and invited the SOMRDPE to jointly organize or participate in the events. The SOMRDPE Chairperson, H.E. Mr. Chew Hok Yong, thanked AsiaDHRRA for the excellent cooperation with the sectoral body and for its invitation to SOMRDPE to collaborate in its various activities in support of the RDPE agenda.
On 18 July, AsiaDHRRA, together with DHRRA leaders from Laos, Myanmar, Philippines, and Vietnam actively participated in the 7th ASEAN Public Private Partnership (PPP) Forum on Rural Development and Poverty Eradication (RDPE). It focused on “Innovation to Build Resilience in Rural Development and Poverty Eradication” and was attended by ASEAN Member States, civil society groups, development partners, and the private sector.
Marlene Ramirez was the speaker on “Building Resilience in Rural Areas” and the moderator of the panel session on “Collaboration and Partnership” during the forum.
The Singapore Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) successfully organized the event, triggering some hope for greater collaboration among participants on shared issues and agenda.
