Siem Reap, Cambodia – AsiaDHRRA, represented by Mags Catindig, Program Manager, and FNN-CamboDHRRA, represented by Pan Sopheap, Executive Director/Focal Person, participated in the 2018 ASEAN-China-UNDP Symposium on Localising the SDGs and Realising Poverty Eradication organized by ASEAN Secretariat, in cooperation with the Mission of China to ASEAN and UNDP, at Siem Reap, Cambodia, on 20-21 August 2018.
It was attended by Senior Officials and other officers from the ASEAN Member States, representatives from the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN Sectoral Bodies, officials and staffs from UNDP, as well as experts, leaders, and representatives from private sectors, civil society groups, and, other and leaders and experts in charge of implementation of the SDGs from ASEAN Member States, and private sector who shared experiences and best practices on localising the SDGs.
The symposium elaborated ways forward to implement the SDGs and eradicate poverty according to local realities in rural, semi-urban, and, peri-urban areas. It underscored the need for different development approaches tailored according to specific localities. This symposium built on from the results of previous years symposium on ‘Leave No One Behind’ in 2016 and on ‘Financing the Implementation of the SDGs in ASEAN’ in 2017.
