Davao City, Philippines – AsiaDHRRA, represented by its Program Manager Florante Jesus Villas, joined the 10th National Coffee Summit with the theme: “Bridging the Gap to Quality.” Held on 24 – 25 October 2017 at SMX Convention Center Davao, the event was attended by various coffee producers and farmers, civil society organizations, farmers’ organizations, and representatives from private and public sectors.
The event aimed at informatively strengthening the coffee industry, supporting coffee producers, and also knowing stakeholders for networking and future partnerships.
Currently, the Philippines imports coffee from Vietnam and Indonesia. The Philippines produces only around 25 million tons of coffee a year but consume more than 100 million tons annually. Hence, the 10th National Coffee Summit focused on understanding climate change impacts on coffee production in the country, and, improving coffee production quality, among others.
