Mandaluyong City, Philippines – AsiaDHRRA co-organized the 2017 Knowledge Learning Market and Policy Engagement (KLMPE) with the theme: “Moving towards Inclusive Rural Transformation” held on 27 – 28 November 2017 at ADB Headquarters. This annual event was co-organized among development partners—IFAD and ADB, the Department of Agrarian Reform, and civil society/farmers groups including Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA), MTCP 2 Philippines, Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA), Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA), Trias, and We Effect.
Around 250 representatives of local farmers organizations, government agencies, and, civil society groups participated in the event. AsiaDHRRA partners from Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and, Vietnam also participated in the event.
KLMPE brought the opportunity to share success stories, good practices, initiatives, and innovations, and discuss current situations of the farmers, farmer organizations, the government, and CSOs. The event also marked the 4th year celebration of the International Year of Family Farming.
In one of the sessions, AsiaDHRRA Program Manger Florante Jesus Villas presented the Farmers Fighting Poverty framework and supported projects as an approach for promoting inclusive rural transformation.
