Baguio City, Philippines – Last February 10 – 11, 2017 the Pambansang Kilusan ng mga Samahang Magsasaka (PAKISAMA) – a national peasant confederation and movement towards the empowerment of small farmers, fishers, rural women, youth, and indigenous peoples – held its Partners’ Conference in Bagiuo City, Philippines, and attended by representatives from We Effect, CSA, AsiaDHRRA, NatCCO, AFA, and FairTrade. AsiaDHRRA was represented by Mr. Cezar Belangel, one of its Program Managers.
The Partners’ Conference objectives are the following:
- Come out with written operation and resource mobilization plan (log frames) to include expected outputs, activities, timeframes, responsible units/individuals per program and Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation scheme of the 9th Congress-approved PAKISAMA Strategic drections
- A list of insights, recommendations and commitments from PAKISAMA development partners on how further PAKISAMA can improve its strategic directions, operation, and resource mobilization plans especially in the area of building the strongest and broadest national agri-cooperative federation in the country
- A mechanism to intensify involvement of PAKISAMA Partners in PAKISAMA Planning and Operations.
Partners of PAKISAMA were open to support the farmers’ federation in the areas of organizational and institutional development, strengthening agri- cooperatives to expand farmers’ access to market, resource tenure for the farmers, and defense of human rights and democratic institutions in the country.
