The Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA), through its social enterprise Project Philmart, has taken a significant move to bridging the gap between rural and urban markets at the launching of their weekend market in Vista Valley Subdivision in Marikina City on 5 November 2023.
The weekend market was made possible through the support and collaboration with the homeowners’ association led by Mr. Joey Baingan. More importantly, Mr. Baingan waived the required fees for setting up the stalls as he values a similar vision of empowering local farmers and marketing their fresh produce in urban areas at a competitive cost.
Project PhilMart is a component of Rural-Urban Market Link (RUML), a project implemented by a consortium led by GlowCorp and funded by USAID.
