Bangkok, Thailand – AsiaDHRRA participates in the Regional Workshop cum Roundtable Discussion on ASEAN Economic Integration back-to-back with 2nd Regional Project Steering Committee (RPSC) Meeting in Novotel Platinum Hotel, Bangkok on 28-30 November 2019.
The project, “Agricultural Transformation and Market Integration in the ASEAN Region: Responding to Food Security and Inclusiveness Concerns (ATMI-ASEAN)” is funded by IFAD and implemented by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
During the workshop an overview of current agricultural marketing systems and trade policies, and international trade (intra- and extra-ASEA) in the ASEAN Member States and identified existing challenges and opportunities were presented.
Moreover, findings on the results of research and studies on the agricultural transformation and on foreign direct and agribusiness investments and discussions on key agricultural marketing systems and trade policies in the ASEAN highlighted the event. This is part of the preparations for high level policy forum (HLPF) at the ASEAN in 2020.
AsiaDHRRA alongside project implementers and partners like IFAD, IFPRI, SEARCA, AFA and Grow Asia participated in the event. Focal agencies and research institutions of each ATMI-ASEAN targeted AMS; Non-ATMI-ASEAN AMS (i.e., Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand; Non-ASEAN Asian countries (i.e., Japan, Taiwan); and ASEAN Secretariat were also present.
