The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA) participated in a panel discussion on Driving Responsible Investment in Agriculture at the Grow Asia Forum at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, on 18 October 2022. Ms. Marlene Ramirez, AsiaDHRRA’s Secretary-General, engaged in a discussion that explored existing barriers to adopting responsible investment policies and practices, highlighting best practices; and providing action steps for stakeholders’ groups in the region. It is perceived that scaling up investment in food, agriculture, and forestry is imperative to achieving food and nutrition security, economic growth, and opportunities; thus, it should be aligned with responsible practices.
In addition, Grow Asia organized their first in-person governance meeting in almost two years, coinciding with World Food Day and an opportune time to reflect on the community’s progress in transforming food systems. Grow Asia’s way of working is anchored upon #SDG17, where sustainable development is achieved through multi-stakeholder partnerships at all levels. Our governance structure reflects this approach and our commitment to diversity.
