Tri Heru Wardoyo, AFA Chairperson, Vic Fabe, AFA ExeCom member, and Esther Penunia, AsiaDHRRA Advocacy Officer, participated in a three day rice seeds seminar with the theme: “Rights, Life and Culture, Stand Up for our Rice”, held in Devt. Academy of the Philippines, Tagaytay City, Philippines last March 29-April 2.
The workshop was organized by the East Asia Rice Working Group (EARWG). The workshop participants called for, among others, a policy environment that promotes local seed production and disallow patenting of rice and rice seeds which prevent farmers from saving and exchanging seeds.
Right after the EARWG seminar, AsiaDHRRA conducted an orientation session on AsiaDHRRA and AFA with Tri Heru Wardoyo. This was to prepare Mr. Wardoyo for his task as new Chairperson of AFA.
