The Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA) conducted the Mekong Sub regional conference on the Asian Peasant Agenda last 22-26 October in Hanoi. It was attended by 20 participants from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam . The participants pushed for the implementation of alternative trade, particularly farmer-to-farmer market exchanges. It also decided to explore working relationships with the Mekong River Commission. The conference was hosted by Vietnam Farmers’ Union, assisted by VietDHRRA, and sponsored by Agriterra. It was the last in a series of three consultations conducted by AFA to help firm up its Asian Peasant Agenda.
