Eastern Samar, Philippines – AsiaDHRRA’s Program Manager Cezar Belangel participated as a guest speaker in the project launching of the Lawaan Farmers-Fishers Development Association held on 19 November 2017 in the Municipality of Lawaan, Eastern Samar. Other guests include Lawaan Mayor Florencio Almeda, Chair of the Committee on Agriculture of the Sanguniang Bayan, farmer leaders of other FOs from neighboring municipalities of Gen McArthur, Quinapondan, Hernani, Converse, and Marabut.
Lawaan is one of the municipalities devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013. Key to community resilience is the strengthening of local people’s groups that are dedicated to building self-reliance, working together, and persevering amidst all forms of difficulties. LLFDA is among the local groups supported by AsiaDHRRA through its Post-Haiyan Fund Facility Local Initiatives.
