Pasig City, Philippines – The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Philippines conducted Stakeholders Consultation for Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP) 2017-2022 at the Astoria Plaza, Pasig City, on 06 June 2017. It was attended by representatives from civil society organizations, research institutions, UN bodies, government agencies, and, private sectors.
AsiaDHRRA, represented by its Program Manager, Ms. Mags Catindig, provided comments and recommendations to the new COSOP underscoring the need for continued investments to smallholder agriculture and rural people’s organizations in the country. She also conveyed AsiaDHRRA’s support to IFAD’s priority for inclusion of small farmers’ organization into value chain governance.
“We, therefore, encourage IFAD to support the formation of agri-cooperatives as potential self-reliant organizations that could effectively and economically partake in value chain governance,” she said.
