AsiaDHRRA participates in celebrating World Day Against Child Labour (WADCL) with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, at Kasaysayan para sa Batang Malaya” on 26 June 2024 at Campo Uno Barangay Elizalde and on 27 June 2024 at Campo Dos, Barangay Malamodao, Maco, Davao de Oro. The gathering was organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao de Oro Field Office. WADCL is a region-wide celebration focusing on initiatives and actions to eliminate child labour globally. It is celebrated annually in June. It gathers governments, civil society, worker’s organizations, and employers, highlighting the predicaments of child labourers including measures that will support them.

The event also commemorates the tragic landslide in Masara, Maco, Davao de Oro on 6 February 2024, which disrupted the lives of many children. Celebrating World Day Against Child Labor requires collective effort among stakeholders to restore the children’s hope and dreams while underlining the commitment to humanity and the fragility of childhood during calamity.

AsiaDHRRA’s RISE-UP is an EU-funded project that helps to increase awareness of its mission to align with global initiatives to combat child labour with its key stakeholders in the network—the initiative partners with the Kaanib Foundation, CO Multiversity, and PhilDHRRA.
