The People’s Business Center (PBC) and the management team of Rural-Urban Market Link (RUML) conducted an orientation with TAFARMCO on 8 August 2023. TAFARMCO is a member of The National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO) located in Tuba, Benguet, with active cooperative members producing high-value vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, lettuces, cabbages, potatoes, beans, and bell peppers.
The orientation discussed possible arrangements to supply agricultural commodities to the identified markets through the PBC mechanism, including general systems of commodity procurement. As a result, relevant production data were placed, and PBC and TAFARMCO decided to collaborate and agreed to hold a follow-up meeting to forward the partnership.
RUML is a project implemented by seven development networks led by GlowCorp and funded by USAID – US Agency for International Development, which aims to link rural producers to urban markets, particularly in Metro Manila.
