The Knowledge Learning Market and Policy Engagement (KLMPE) 2022 organized its annual gathering of government agencies, international organizations, farmers’ organizations, civil society organizations, academe, and IFAD-assisted projects on 1 December 2022 via zoom conference. The event emphasized the idea of “KLMPE in Retrospect: Reflect, Sustain, Improve.”
The discussion also celebrated its ninth year since the launch of the United Nations International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) and the fourth year of the United Nations Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF). KLMPE has been a platform for stakeholders to discuss and facilitate knowledge exchange on best practices, agriculture, and rural development in the country. To date, the Philippines is among a few countries that created their national action plan to localize the implementation of UNDFF.
The event envisions the following results:
- Reflect and appreciate the gains and advances of the Philippine Action Plan for Family Farmers (PAP4FF) in addressing small farmers and fishers’ challenges;
- Awareness of the governments and civil society’s efforts/initiatives in addressing the challenges confronting family farmers; and
- Renewed commitment by different stakeholders in implementing the PAP4FF.
KLMPE 2022 is co-organized by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Agriculture (DA), with civil society organizations (Agriterra, ASIADHRRA, NLC Philippines/NES, PhilDHRRA, Trias, We Effect), farmer’s organizations (AFA/APFP/PAKISAMA), academies (UP CIDS), and IFAD assisted projects (BFAR-FishCORAL, DAR-ConVERGE, DTI-RAPID, NIA-INREMP, DA-CHARMP2).
