The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA), PhilDHRRA, and the Institute of Social Order (ISO) conducted the Training of Trainers (ToT) on learning needs assessment at Panukulan, Quezon Province, on 24-25 November 2022.  Ms. Arlynn Contreras, AsiaDHRRA’s organization development consultant, and Ms. Luchie Blanco, Program Officer for Research, gathered nine (LGU) officials in the community and discussed the training design intended for 15-17-year-old students.  The intervention addresses child labor and the promotion of decent work among the youth in sustainable agriculture targeting the municipalities of Infanta, Panukulan, and Real in Quezon Province.

With support from the LGUs and the Department of Education, the event is targeting teachers and guidance counselors from at least three public national high schools and partner LGUs to become effective trainers to 15-17-year-old students in the area of child labor and decent employment aiming to contribute in the elimination of child labor in the fishery, coastal and aquatic areas.

Furthermore, it will serve as a venue for validating the LNA results, designing the LNA tool for the youth, and crafting an indicative training agenda and (demo/pilot) training design intended primarily for 15-17-year-old students.  The TOT graduate participants will lead the demonstration training in the coming days, where 15-17-year-old students are the primary participants.  The project is a collaboration between AsiaDHRRA, FAO, PhilDHRRA, and the Institute of Social Order.
