AsiaDHRRA meet with partners on FAO-SEARCA Project for the Provision of a Series of Activities in the Framework of the UN Decade of Family Farming

2 September 2022 – The Asian Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA) joined the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for a brief meeting on country case studies update for Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand.

The collaboration is a joint initiative for the UN Decade of Family Farming (UNDFF) program to document and analyze successful in-country case studies on policies, strategies, initiatives, and programs supporting family farming. The in-country cases identified are the following:

  1. Case 1. Indonesia – Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 of 2014: Village Law
  2. Case 2. Cambodia – Sub-decree N.36 on Contract Farming (“Contract- based Agricultural Production”) and the Proposed new “Contract Farming Law”
  3. Case 3. Philippines – Partnership Against Hunger Program (PAHP) Convergence Program and the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger Program (ePAHP)
  1. Case 4. Indonesia – Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 13 of 2010 Paragraph 8: Horticultural Agrotourism
  2. Case 5. Lao PDR – National Nutrition Strategy to 2025 and Plan of Action 2016-2020 and the Agriculture Development Strategy to 2025 and Vision to 2030 in Lao PDR
  3. Case 6. Thailand- Smart Farmers Development Project

Ms. Luchie Blanco, Program Officer and Research focal, leads a team of selected writers in gathering and reviewing country case study submissions for the program. In addition, the project seeks to enhance the exchange of knowledge and best practices on family farming and to further contribute to the UNDFF Pillar of the overall structure of the Global Action Plan:

  1. Innovation for sustainable agriculture production (UNDFF Pillar 07)
  2. Small-scale producers’ equitable access to resources (UNDFF Pillar 02)
  3. Scaling up of agroecology initiative  (UNDFF Pillar 06)

Furthermore, the project also aims to identify policy intervention issues that need pushing forward to improve future actions.
